A Letter from Instagram Jail....
Last week the Yoko's Mini Mart instagram account was h*cked ( I've since learnt to be careful how I type that word ) and as I type, it is day number five in the Instagram Jail. So I thought that while I'm here shut away from my Instagram community it would be a good time to reflect on this predicament that I find myself and more importantly my business, in.
I was chatting to a friend (in real life) the other day, trying to describe what it feels like and for those of you unfamiliar with having a small business on Instagram I thought you would find this relatable....
So. I have this little shop, and it's cute and squishy and I have poured my heart and soul into it, it's in this place - surrounded by other little shops just like mine but each as unique as the person that owns it.
On a daily basis, people pass by the window, some nod and smile as they watch what I'm doing, some pop in and buy something as a treat for themselves because they have had a DAY, some pop in just for a quick chat on their way to pick the kids up from school.
Fast forward to Instagram jail - and the best way I can describe it is, now I have this shop, and it's cute and squishy and I have poured my heart and soul into it but it's in the desert, I still turn up everyday and open the doors - there are the odd passers by but it's not like it was. And whilst I sit and hope that it is temporary my overthinker brain is whispering "what if it's foreverrrrrrr?"
So for now, my short term plan is to continue to keep in touch with my community via email, and perhaps relocate my time spent on social media to my You Tube Channel, working on new products and growing my business in other ways.
Am I scared? A little bit. Will it be OK? I think so.
Please feel free to share this on your socials, I had 2 step authentication on and it still happened.

I use water based inks Polly so the colours are really dull when printed on grey, and if I print a white base underneath the inks cracks. Trust me, I’ve tried everything!
